From sundowners overlooking the beach to shopping up a storm along the high street, there are plenty of ways to stay busy in this north shore 'burb.
With its stunning waterfront views, harbour beaches, a world-class zoo and bougie cafes galore, Mosman has become one of the most desirable places to live in the city. Its prime location allows for comfortable, semi-suburban living with easy access to everything the city has to offer without compromising on the beautiful, leafy and waterside vibes.
The suburb itself is not left wanting for anything, with a dazzling array of specialty shops, restaurants and public spaces, so this charming neighbourhood has something for everyone and every occasion. Together with American Express, we've put together a little list to help you out.

If you’re enjoying a leisurely stroll down Military Road, you’ll come across a plethora of great clothing stores. But if we could highlight one, it’d have to be Fox & Dove. You’ll feel very much at home as you peruse the racks of high-quality pieces from renowned Australian and international designers such as Neuw, Sleeping with Jacques and Karen Walker. You can also check out its Instagram store if you can’t make it in person.

Going for brunch in Mosman can be something of a daunting task, as there are so amazing cafes at your fingertips. While it’s hard to go wrong, take our advice and make your next brunch date at Heirloom Specialty Coffee. Located on a quiet corner of Avenue Road and adorned with a charming mural of Australian native flora, the cafe has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, all of which fill up fast on weekends.
Grab the brekkie bun — which uses bacon sourced from the butcher across the road — or satisfy those nostalgic cravings and opt for the sausage, egg and hash brown muffin. Pair your feed with an expertly made latte or batch brew and your day will be off to a very good start indeed.

Floriade’s eye-catching displays and beautiful scents may have you walking inside to browse without even realising you’re doing so. It’s one of the oldest shops in the Mosman community. It’s been a part of Military Road’s shopping strip for over 20 years, so it’s obviously doing something right.
Forgot your anniversary or another special occasion? Stop by and grab a bespoke arrangement for your special someone. The team at Floriade will be happy to help you choose from its immense selection of fresh flora. Or, if you want to add an extra element of surprise, delivery within the Mosman, Cremorne and Neutral Bay postcodes can be arranged.

One of the most spectacular spots in Mosman is Balmoral Beach. And one of the most frequented spots in Balmoral Beach is Bathers’ Pavilion. The stunning white building is mere metres from the sand at the northern end of the harbourside beach, and it offers water views from every seat in the house.
It’s an ideal spot to while away an afternoon with friends over some delicious food and a few glasses of wine, before a stroll along the idyllic esplanade. We’d recommend the seafood-heavy degustation menu for $150 per person, with a premium wine pairing available for an additional $120 per person.

Set on the bustling high street of Military Road, Constant Reader has long been a fixture of the Mosman community. One of the longest-standing independent book retailers in Sydney, Constant Reader boasts nonfiction and fiction books on just about every topic you could imagine.
The store is run by enthusiastic and incredibly well-read staff, so you’ll be sure to find something to lose yourself in. The bookshop also leverages its close ties to the literary community to organise author talks across the north shore — keep an eye on the website for upcoming events.

Taking its name from the stunning Greek island of Kastellorizo, Kazzi’s Hellenic-style seafood dishes are very much at home in this cozy Balmoral Beach setting. Set on the bustling esplanade, Kazzi has a wide range of delicious dishes perfect for any day of the week — though we’d recommend a weekday as things can get a bit crowded on weekends.
Grab a plate of ocean-caught, chargrilled king prawns or grilled haloumi and salmon salad. Or, if seafood is not your thing, check out the spit-roasted meats, cooked in the traditional kontosouvli method over an open flame and served with pita or salad.

Afous is located right on the edge of The Spit, overlooking the serene Sandy Bay, so already it’s a great spot for a get-together. And that’s before we even get to the menu, which draws on Spanish and Moroccan tapas-style dishes that are well-suited to big group catch-ups.
Standout dishes include the B’stilla Fingers — layers of crispy filo pastry, filled with fragrant almond chicken infused with rose water and cinnamon, and served with an orange and saffron sauce — or the Berber Vegetarian Tagine, featuring seasonal vegetables stewed with fresh herbs.

Enter past the brightly decorated front window to be greeted with all manner of balloons, decorations and other party essentials. From children’s parties and baby showers to corporate events and big birthday bashes, there’s a balloon bouquet available for every occasion. Whether you’ve got a big event coming up, your post-lockdown locks are in need of some TLC or you just want to reinvent your look, picking the right salon is something of a fine art. Fortunately, Mosman’s Hair Colab makes it an easy choice thanks to the team’s passion and attention to detail when it comes to all things hair.
Owner Biba Binks worked at high-end salons for many years before opening her own. Hair Colab offers personalised consultations, plus shiatsu head massages at the basin. The salon is a Kérastase ambassador, and also uses and sells products from GHD and Olaplex.
