Overview

Camden was once an infamous hub of punk venues and subcultures, a key piece of London's grungy alternative history. Some of that remains, but today the Camden Market is the biggest draw card, open seven days a week. Started by a small group of traders in 1974, the present Camden Market sprawls across four quarters beside Regents Canal: the Stables; Lock; Hawley Wharf; and Buck Street Container Market. Within these distinct quarters, you'll find everything from watchmakers to art exhibitions, hand-painted custom shoes, leather goods, jewellery, international groceries, scented candles, antiquarian collectibles and taxidermy.

Home of the Half Hitch Gin Micro-Distillery & Gin Store, a nod to the old Camden legacy of gin production, the market is also a top spot for some of London's best natural wine and craft beer. And you've probably seen the viral street food. But beyond a Yorkshire pudding burrito or metre-long hot dog, you'll get all the world cuisines – Japanese, Indonesian, West African, Greek, Peruvian, and a world of curries and dumplings. When you're done with shopping and eating, there's mini golf, a cinema and a darts club.
