Overview
Smith Street's latest late-night cocktail bar isn't here to blend in. With nightly rotating live performances, a dimly lit intimate space reminiscent of old-timey cabaret venues, theatrical cocktails and a menu of $15 plates, Flair strives to stand out.
"I've spent my career in hospitality, but I always knew I wanted to create an unforgettable venue that goes beyond dining or food. Flair brings together everything I'm passionate about to create something completely unique and fun. I wanted to capture the spectacle and theatre I've admired throughout Europe while embracing Melbourne's creative, slightly grungy spirit," says Owner Rio Olivetti.
Influenced by the late-night, theatrical entertainment found across Europe, imbued with a distinct Melbourne feel, Flair brings dining, drinking, and live entertainment under one sultry roof. A custom-built stage with arched frames is the heart of the venue, with high tables positioned around it and a balcony overlooking it for a different view.
A rotating line-up of performances curated by Corset Entertainment Creative Director Holly Mouat takes the stage. Up to three live performances will take place each evening from Thursday through Saturday, and two on Sundays. You might be lucky enough to see burlesque performances, cabaret dancers, circus acts, fire artists, hula-hoop performers and more. From 9pm, DJs take over as the space transitions from a live-performance show to a late-night club.
To keep you fuelled for a big night out, a menu of share plates, all priced at $15, includes burrata with tomato and beetroot, zucchini fritta balls and a selection of pizzas. Sip signature cocktails such as the Three Wishes with vodka, sake, raspberry, elderflower, strawberry and lemon while taking in the action, or head to the hidden, undercover beer garden.
