The Roosevelt
A refined NYC-inspired bar sending you back to the 1950s with champagne, plenty of cocktails and oysters.
Overview
One part glam, one part retro and one part mixologist's fantasy, The Roosevelt is an irresistible mix that has long made it one of the eastern suburb's most in-demand cocktail destinations.
The acclaimed team from Eau de Vie have created a cocktail bar off buzzy Macleay Street that is at once classic and an homage to cocktail culture from the 30s and 40s, and at the same time thoroughly modern with a cocktail menu as cutting edge as they come.
Glass cabinets filled with antique cocktail-making accoutrement line the room, swing is the soundtrack and the cocktail menu files its drinks into sections like 'Fruity', 'Boozy' or 'Bitter'. This first category includes the 'Holly Go Lightly' made with house-made lemon vodka, blueberry, citrus, and soda, while the second and third are home to the The Re-Fashioned #1.2 and the Roosevelt Blazer, respectively.
Not content to simply cook up some of Sydney's finest and most imaginative cocktails, The Roosevelt's kitchen also turns out bar snacks well worth a look-in. Go retro with the seasonal crudités with anchovy and parmesan dip, do deliciously French and cheesy with the baked camembert en croute with seasonal fruit chutney, or try the Caribbean-inspired Nitro Colada — a dessert fusing coconut rum, piña colada gelato, torched meringue and lime zest.
The Roosevelt is a glam throwback bar experience that is just as good for the start of your evening as it is for the final nightcap.
