Overview
Lucinda Coxon's Herding Cats isn't about what you think it is. Nope, it's about two mid-twenties housemates whose work fills them with expletive-filled fury and mind-boggling frustration.
Justine is a high-powered office worker who physically can't stand to be around her boss, and Michael earns his living by pretending to be a woman and making dirty calls to men such as Saddo. Theirs is an increasingly fraught relationship as their different circumstances threaten to swallow them whole and life in the 'cat' race becomes unbearable.
Directed by Suzanne Chaundy, Herding Cats takes a long hard look at the herd mentality which leaves people so overworked and overwrought that they only have time for the wrong kinds of intimacy. The intensity of Coxon's script lends itself well to a Red Stitch Actors Theatre production and the award-winning script offers disturbing insights into loneliness, bitterness and human frailty.
