Warm Up This Winter with Piccolina's Italian Hot Chocolate Range, or Add a Scoop of Gelato for a Hot-Meets-Cold Moment

One of Melbourne's best gelato purveyors, Piccolina Gelateria, is turning up the heat this winter with a newly launched range of gourmet hot chocolates. The Cioccolata Calda, or Italian hot chocolate, will be available across all Piccolina stores from Friday, May 15, until the end of winter. 

Piccolina, founded by Sandra Foti in 2015, has become widely renowned for its quality gelato crafted from natural ingredients using time-honored techniques. True to its ethos, Piccolina's hot chocolate is made using the finest ingredients, including 72 percent Belgian dark couverture chocolate. 

"We had a lot of fun developing this offering, and like everything we do, it's grounded in great ingredients and is produce-driven," says Foti. The team has created three hot chocolate variations designed to provide a premium, yet playful drinking experience.   

The Il Classico is topped with whipped cream; the Hot Chocolate Affogato includes a scoop of signature gelato for a hot-meets-cold moment; and the S'Mores Affogato is a nostalgic creation of hot chocolate with fior di latte gelato, toasted pink marshmallows, and graham cracker crumble. 

"Our goal was to create a hot chocolate that is rich, full-bodied, with layered flavours that unfold and linger — much like a fine wine," says Head Chef Simon Colacino.
