Things to Do Collingwood

Trainscendence

Ten floors, three rooftop train carriages, and not an ounce of subtlety.

Overview

Trainscendence turned a Collingwood warehouse into a ten-floor creative venue built around three decommissioned Hitachi train carriages, craned onto the rooftop over a single weekend — a 30-tonne-per-carriage engineering feat that won a Good Design Australia award. Split across seven themed rooms, the venue shares its rooftop real estate with Easey's burger restaurant and Carriage Studios, a working recording studio, each occupying its own section of the old rolling stock.

Book one of the private karaoke rooms, catch a comedy or live music set, or just treat the place as an oddball coworking space for the afternoon — Trainscendence runs workshops and classes alongside its event-hire calendar, with bar minimums from $600 on weeknights for private functions.
