Around the World in Eight Negronis
Because one negroni is never enough.
Overview
One negroni is almost never enough, but how about eight? This year for Wellington On a Plate, Forresters Lane is taking a trip around the world with the beautifully bitter Italian aperitif. The beverage harks back to the early 1900s when Count Camillo Negroni asked a bartender to switch the soda in his Americano to gin. Your classic version is made with gin, sweet vermouth rosso, Campari and an orange peel for garnish.
At Around the World in Eight Negronis attendees will sample eight different negroni-style drinks, matched with food pairings from each featured country. Every 15 minutes the bar theme will change as the music, ambience and style moves from Italy to the southern states of the USA, with a few stops in between. Expect your classic negroni with a caprese salad and some Italian hip-hop, through to a Boulevardier paired with slow-cooked Campari ribs and bluegrass.
The $65 ticket price includes eight negroni cocktails with matching canapes. Needless to say, you should leave the car at home for this one. Tickets are still available for the Monday, 12 August session.
