Path of the Gods

What are the mountainous seaside paths of the Amalfi Coast for if not the hiking explorer? And where else will you get mind-blowing views but on The Path of the Gods?

The best spot to start in Bomerano (and if you need hiking gear, this is the place to grab it), following trail signs to 'Il Sentiero degli Dei'. In summer, it's best to start in the morning before the day becomes too hot. It's not a hugely difficult path, and takes a few hours depending on your fitness. The path winds along cliff edges, dirt paths and gravel, as well as hard stone, moving from clinging scrub to crops, tall trees and bushes.

As your terrain changes, you'll pass historic sites of habitation and local wildlife. But you'll probably be too distracted by the breathtaking views. Gaze up at rock formations, across the Amalfi coastline and the towns that cling to its sides, then out to the horizon and the blue yonder. The path ends in Nocello, and it's an easy bus ride down to picturesque Positano from there.
