A Roaming Silent Disco Party Is Coming to Sydney

A dancing trek between five of the city’s best beaches, or five silent discos in one.

Overview

Since silent discos first came to prominence back in the '90s, strapping on a pair of wireless headphones and strutting your stuff has become a favourite pastime of, well, just about everyone. In fact, soundless dance floor displays have popped up everywhere from Glastonbury to the Sydney Film Festival over the years — and now a Sydney event is taking the concept on the road.

Or, along the coast, to be exact — and all in the space of a single fun night. Think of the Pop-Up Coogee to Bondi Roaming Silent Disco Party as a dancing trek between five of the city's best beaches, or five silent discos in one. It's an idea that's so great, it's taking place three times: on October 15 and 29, and November 19.

Here's how it works: attendees will meet in a secret spot, grab their headphones and start boogeying. Exact locations are yet to be revealed, but Coogee, Clovelly, Bronte, Tamarama and Bondi will all feature on the itinerary.

In bad news for anyone wanting to silently dance their way around town at the event's two October dates, tickets have already sold out. Limited places are still available for November; however if you're keen on showing off your fancy footwork sans noise, you'd best get purchasing quick smart.

The Pop-Up Coogee to Bondi Roaming Silent Disco Party takes place on October 15 and 29, and November 19. For more information and to buy tickets, visit the event's Facebook page.
