Flight Facilities Are Doing a Massive Gig with Sydney Symphony Orchestra
They're bringing their sold-out Melbourne show home.
After a highly successful (and sold-out) Melbourne run with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Flight Facilities have announced one mighty outdoors Sydney gig. The Down to Earth duo have announced they'll be bringing their huge orchestral live show to Sydney, casually appearing with the 50-piece Sydney Symphony Orchestra and special guests in The Domain.
Fans will be treated to a classical-infused retake on Flight Facilities' Gold, ARIA-nominated 2014 debut LP Down To Earth under the stars. In addition to tunes from Down to Earth, you can expect a bunch of Flight Facilities' singles and remixes, as well as some new bits and pieces, composed specifically for the SSO.
"Long before making 'Clair de Lune', we both shared a love for classical music," said Hugo Gruzman and James Lyell when the show debuted in Melbourne. "Playing alongside an orchestra was almost inconceivable when we started Flight Facilities, but now we've been given the chance to collaborate and perform with one of Australia's greatest."
It's all part of the recently announced Red Bull Weekender, a four-day, multi-venue festival from Red Bull Music Academy making its Sydney debut in September. Featuring 40 artists across 12 signature events, the Weekender is being curated by two Sydney music champions, Crown Ruler's Jamie Bennett (known for his work touring artists such as Roy Ayers, Theo Parrish and J-Rocc, and programming the Red Bull Music Academy Stages at Splendour and Laneway) and Goodgod's Jimmy Sing, who just finished programming the 'Goodgod Super Club' Opera House series for this year's Vivid Festival.
Red Bull Music Academy Weekender presents FFxSSO and special guests at The Domain, Sydney on Saturday, September 10. Tickets on sale Thursday, April 28 here.
