Overview

The Lobby is the ground-floor cocktail bar and lounge at Ace Hotel Sydney, sunk into the middle of Flack Studio's reimagining of the heritage Tyne Building in Surry Hills. A marble bar top and an ochre-orange sunken lounge pleated tan leather cushions included — anchor the room as its social centre.

Culinary Director Isobel Whelan-Little runs the food and drink program here — wines by the glass and bottle, craft beers, cocktails and shareable small plates built for grazing rather than a sit-down meal. The main event is happy hour, running daily from 4-6pm, with $8 beers and wines, $14 margaritas and martinis, $2.50 oysters, $16 cheeseburgers and $9 vegetarian arancini on offer.

Music runs through the week, with a DJ taking over from 6pm Thursday through Saturday, and from 3pm on Sunday, with rotating residencies from labels like Beat Kitchen Records and Planet Trip Records keeping the lineup fresh.
