The newly opened Marina Bay Sands hotel in Singapore has just taken the title of the world’s most expensive hotel. At a cost of $5 billion, the resort boasts 55 levels, over 2,500 rooms, an indoor canal, a lotus-flower shaped museum and a 151-metre rooftop swimming pool – in addition to over 300 shops, restaurants, theatres and casino floor.

Designed by renowned architect Moshe Safdie, the integrated hotel has been described as resembling “three-cricket-stumps topped by a boat-shaped deck”. Every aspect of the Marina Bay Sands is at the cutting edge of stylish design and innovation, but the highlight of the jaw-dropping, three-towered hotel has to be its infinity pool.

Located 200 metres above sea level on the roof of the resort in the boat-shaped ‘SkyPark’, the infinity pool is one of the world’s largest outdoor pools, at three times the length of an Olympic Pool and measuring longer the Eiffel Tower laid down. The pool is the pièce-de-résistance of the SkyPark, which at 12,400 square metres also features a public observation deck and celebrity-chef restaurants, including The Sky on 57 by chef Justin Quek.
