Overview

At 4A during Art Month, four expatriate Korean art stars join forces to explore artists' experiences of diaspora. In the spirit of multiplicity, the exhibition itself promises to be eclectic and diverse.

The drawings of Soo-Joo Yoo almost avoid classification. Drawing not with pen or pencil but with objects, Yoo's works create three-dimensional environments which literally jump out from the walls. Inverting Yoo's outward extensions, Kijeong Song's photographs probe at the intimate inner realms of others' lives. Her focus in this exhibition is intergenerational relationships.

Seung Yul Oh focuses instead on objects, delving into the whimsy of childhood through surreal installations. Here, the colour, movement and size of toys and games is wildly exaggerated. The world of his creations does not exist independently but requires the nostalgia, and in certain cases the physical movements, of an audience to operate.

Constellation kicks off with a big bang on opening night: a performance, It Without A Blink, by the Berlin-based Eunhye Hwang. Experimenting with communication through staged public interventions, Hwang generally surprises his audiences by requiring their engagement. Consider yourself warned. Savvy audience members should email the gallery before the date to either 'be a performer' or to 'be performed' in what promises to be an unpredictable and revealing event.
