Coravin Aged Wine Clinic at Grappa The Rocks

Got a special bottle of wine gathering dust at the back of the cupboard? Rather than waiting for a good enough reason to crack it open (or the cork to crumble), a new pop-up experience guided by Coravin is giving wine-lovers the perfect excuse to take a sip. With the brand's products allowing you to pour wine without popping the cork, the apparently world-first Aged Wine Clinic invites collectors and wine enthusiasts to bring in their most prized bottle, extract a taste, and have it assessed by a Master of Wine.

Taking place at Grappa The Rocks on Thursday, August 27, each 15-minute session is guided by Andrea Pritzker MW, a leading authority in Australian wine. Using a precision-engineered needle to access the wine without damaging the cork, Andrea will assess each wine for its evolution and ideal ageing window. Meanwhile, attendees will receive professional tasting notes, so they know what to expect when the perfect cork-popping occasion arrives.

Besides this expert-led private assessment, the Aged Wine Clinic also features a Coravin Tasting Lounge. Here, you'll snack on canapés, chat with like-minded wine enthusiasts, and taste rare vintage wines from esteemed producers like Hickinbotham, Yangarra and Torbreck, with Grappa delving deep into its reserve cellar. And if you just want to taste these rare drops, it's possible to purchase a separate cheaper ticket without needing to bring your own bottle.

"An aged bottle of wine is a time capsule, but historically, the only way to know if it was at its peak was to open it, which is a rather final commitment. I invented Coravin because I wanted the ability to check in on that journey," says Coravin Founder and Inventor Greg Lambrecht. "Our Aged Wine Clinic gives Sydney's wine lovers that same ability to taste their rarest bottles, knowing they can come back to them again when the time is right."
