Overview
Sydney's Ensemble Apex orchestra is back for a night of classical music without pretension. Its talented young musicians will take over the Powerhouse Museum on Tuesday, August 30 — and the $30 tickets ($10 if you're a student) come with a beer.
The ensemble is known for performing outside of traditional concert halls. Last year, it put on a show at Sydney's Town Hall. This time around, the group will perform within the Powerhouse's Apollo 11 exhibition, underneath that giant floating sculpture of the moon.
The full-scale orchestra will perform composer Dmitri Shostakovich's 'String Quartet No.8', Giovanni Sollima's 'Violoncelles, vibrez!', Aaron Coplan's 'Concerto for Clarinet' and Joseph Haydn's 'Symphony No.60'.
Expect high energy rhythms from Shostakovich, electronic melodies from Sollima and jazz vibes from Copland. Alongside the music, you can enjoy a Young Henrys beer or cider, free at the bar (until sold out).
Doors open at 7pm with music starting at 8pm.
