Overview
UPDATE: December 21, 2020 — The Glenmore is 'taking this precautionary measure of cancelling the event to help stop the spread [of COVID-19]'. For information on current COVID-19 restrictions, head to NSW Health.
Seinfeld fans across Sydney asked for it and The Glenmore delivered: Festivus is back, once again taking over the much-loved pub in The Rocks. Not sure what we're on about? A holiday devised by character Frank Costanza as an alternative to the commercialism of Christmas, Festivus is celebrated every December 23. And, for the past two years, The Glenmore has put on its own version of it — and it's free to attend.
On the jam-packed lineup this year are prizes for best dressed Seinfeld character; an 'air your grievances' wall where you can post your (many) 2020 gripes; and food specials — think dishes cheekily riffing off the show's lines likes "George likes his chicken spicy", "these pretzels are making me thirsty" and "the big peach salad". Not so Seinfeld are the $12 Aperol spritzes.
Though the event is free, if you're after a table, you'll want to book ahead as they're sure to sell out fast. And, in the spirit of keeping things merry, there'll be live tunes from 12–6pm.
Afterwards, swing by The Australian Heritage Hotel, lovingly known as The Aussie, located just down the street. On the same day, it's hosting its monthly Seinfeld-themed trivia night. The quiz kicks off at 7pm and bookings are essential.
Festivus is on at The Glenmore from 12pm till late on December 23. For more details and to book a table, head over here. To book The Aussie's trivia, head here.
