Overview
Some of the biggest names in Australian comedy will take part in coast-to-coast benefit gigs this month in order to draw attention to a very unfunny problem. For one night only on Friday, October 14 in capital cities across the country, local stand-ups will stand up for the victims of domestic violence.
In Sydney, the event will be headlined by Celeste Barber at the Harold Park Hotel in Forest Lodge; in Melbourne, Dave Thornton at the Athenaeum Theatre in the CBD; and in Brisbane, Anne Ferguson-Howe at the Kedron-Wavell Services Club in Chermside. Each city will also feature a number of supporting acts, as well as smatterings of live music and other surprises.
Tickets to each gig cost $49, with all proceeds being used to pay for the funerals of women who have lost their lives to domestic violence.
