Overview

The return of spring and summer in Sydney means all sorts of things, but for cinephiles it means that its outdoor cinema season — when favourites like Sunset Cinema once again take over parks and ovals across the city with inflatable screens, beanbag seating and programs of movies new and old.

Sunset Cinema's Bondi edition is back in form for 2025, running a six week program of 29 screenings until Saturday, December 20th. So, what's on?

Like any good outdoor cinema, viewers can pick from a mix of 2025's biggest movies and classics in equal form. You'll be able to catch the Keanu Reeves-starring angelic comedy Good Fortune, Leonardo DiCaprio and Benicio Del Toro's critically acclaimed tale of revolution in One Battle After Another and Jeremy Allen-White stepping into the shoes of Bruce Springsteen in Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere.

There's also Glen Powell running for his life on a bloody game show in The Running Man; the highly anticipated return to Oz in Wicked: For Good; the latest Benoit Blanc whodunnit in Wake Up Dead Man: a Knives Out Mystery; Jaime Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan back in a body-swapping predicament in Freakier Friday and a strange true story of a serial McDonald's robber played by Channing Tatum in Roofman.

Pick a card, any card in Now You See Me: Now You Don't, watch Emma Stone get accused of being an alien infiltrator in Bugonia, go on a date unlike any other in A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, witness romance intertwine with tragedy in Regretting You or dive deep into a technicolour fantasy in Kiss of the Spiderwoman.

Beyond the blockbusters, you can get tickets for screenings of Kangaroo, Love Actually, Spirited Away, The Goonies, Hook, Home Alone and more.

The food offering has levelled up in 2025, with Promenade Beach Bar serving everything from vermicelli noodle salad to chicken schnitzel burger snackpacks and indulgent desserts. Drinks come in the form of g&ts, Gravity Seltzers, Coopers beers and Poco Vino wines. Bondi a bit far? You can catch films up in North Sydney as well.
