Overview
If we had to pick one thing we love most about Japan, the food and drink experience would be a strong contender. For one week only, Sydney foodies can be transported to Japan, as one of the country's greatest exports – Suntory – a leader in Japanese drinks, is setting up right here in Surry Hills at the Suntory Bar takeover from Wednesday, November 13 to Sunday, November 17.
Suntory has partnered with Itō for a week-long takeover of the Surry Hills Japanese Restaurant as it celebrates 125 years of leadership in Japanese drinks culture, bringing renowned brands including Toki Whisky, Roku Gin, Haku Vodka, Minus 196 and BOSS Coffee to the world.
You can expect a delicious food and drink menu crafted by Itō executive chef Erik Ortolani and ESCA Group Executive Chef Luca Lonati in collaboration with guest chef Khanh Nguyen of King Clarence. Along with your favourite Japanese flavours, creative Suntory highballs and cocktails make up the drinks menu designed by Kerry Burgess, ESCA Group Bar Manager. The star of the show, the Toki Highball, shows off sweet and spicy notes of whisky alongside a grapefruit peel for added citrusy fragrance. Other innovative creations include a Japanese take on the espresso martini bringing together Haku Vodka and BOSS Coffee as well as a Maker's Mark Milk Punch infused with hojicha and dark chocolate and coffee liquors.
The four-course paired menu highlights seafood prominently with dishes including Ora King Salmon Sashimi, Hiramasa Kingfish Collars, Mayura Station Wagyu skewers, Miso Aquna Murray Cod, and a BOSS Coffee Mochi Ice Cream Sandwich.
Experience 125 years of history and taste the legacy of Suntory, all the while enjoying delicious highballs at the Suntory x Itō takeover in Surry Hills. If you miss out on tickets for the three events, there will be specials on the food menu and Suntory highball menu available for regular bookings and space for walk-ins from Friday to Sunday.
