Overview
According to a 2019 report by Foodbank Australia, one in five Australians experienced food security at some point in the past 12 months — and that was before COVID-19 hit and an estimated 600,000 Aussies lost their jobs.
To help put food on the tables of those doing it rough at the moment, ten Asian Australian singers, comedians and rappers are coming together for a one-off live-stream to raise money for Foodbank NSW and ACT.
Going down on YouTube from 9–11.45pm on Saturday, June 27, the live-stream will feature comedian Harry Jun, singers Krista Monica, Yura and Christine, and rappers Andy, Rako, Mike Choe, Cooee, Goyo and Saint. The YouTube link will be published on the event's Facebook page.
While the live-stream will be free to watch, those bopping along in their living rooms are encouraged to donate to Foodbank over here. The group is hoping to raise $1000 — and has a strong start with $387 garnered before the live-stream has even begun.
If you'd like a taste of what to expect, have a listen to Saint's single 'Kumbaya', which features fellow live-stream artist Cooee.
