5:00pm

National Centre of Indigenous Excellence

166-180 George Street, Redfern

Crocodile spring rolls, boab nut ginger beer, cooking demos and live performances are all on the menu at the Twilight Blak Markets this month. Having appeared at Barangaroo, Circular Quay and Bare Island during the past few years, this mighty event is now gearing up to take over the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence in Redfern.

Starting at 5pm on Thursday November 28, the Twilight Blak Markets promises a cornucopia of bush foods — from herbs and game meat to health bars and desserts. Plus, you can grab some hot food at the NCIE Kitchen. There'll also be plenty of makers stalls, offering handcrafted jewellery, one-of-a-kind crafts and artworks. Whatever you buy, rest assured that 100 percent of profits are going to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Australia.

You'll be treated to an epic live program, too. Head down at 5.15pm for a welcoming Smoking Ceremony led by Uncle Graham King, followed by a dance performance by the Jannawi Dance Clan. Next up, you can catch a cooking demo with Aunty Beryl Van-Oploo and Dale Chapman, featuring loads of native ingredients. Then, to round out the festivities, you'll hear from legendary jazz vocalist Johnny Nicol, who'll be hitting the stage at sunset.
