Overview
When former Phamish and Longrain chef Joe Kitsana opens up a new restaurant doing giant sandwiches for lunch, we're inclined to pay attention. Bringing South East Asian fare to Darlinghurst with his latest venture, Joe's Table features dishes that Kitsana has perfected across his former venues over the years, as well as some new additions that are sure to become fast favourites.
For lunch, you'll find sandwiches like chilli jam chicken with tamarind, tomato, lettuce and horseradish cream ($10.50), Thai fish cake with cucumber, salad and sweet chilli sauce ($12.50) and his signature soft-shell crab with Vietnamese pickles and chilli sauce ($12.50). All sandwiches come with a choice of either white or brown Vienna bread. There are also salads, like the vermicelli noodle with poached chicken ($14.50) and other classic South East Asian dishes such as Hainanese chicken rice ($15).
Dinner-wise, fresh rice paper rolls are in abundance, as well as handmade crab and prawn dumplings with young ginger and black vinegar dressing ($18 for four), as well as some heavier dishes such as pulled beef brisket with peanut and orange sauce ($23.50) and stir fried pork hock with homemade chili jam and cashew nuts ($22.50). Vegetarian and vegan options are also available.
Find Joe's Table at 1/28 Kings Lane, Sydney. Open for lunch Monday through Saturday 11am–3pm and dinner Tuesday through Saturday 6–10pm.
