Overview

Milsons Point's The Deck Sydney has been reborn as Altum Restaurant — and it's offering dinner with a serious view. Located just next to Luna Park, the restaurant's large, bifold windows look out over Sydney Harbour and the Opera House, making it ideal for those warm summer nights.

Sicilian head chef Dionisio Randazzo (Balla) joins executive chef Gavin Berrecloth (Neil Perry Food Design) to turn out a menu that focuses on local and seasonal ingredients with influence from the Mediterranean coast. There are plenty of starters to share, and mains span sea, pasture and garden categories.

Think burrata with grilled eggplant, mint and currants ($18); scallops with lime butter, seaweed and almonds served in the shell ($24); smoked confit duck with celeriac and mandarin ($38); and spanner crab with chill egg noodles, fennel and grapefruit ($29). Date night might call for the seafood platter (for two $150), which includes lobster tail with garlic butter, crispy fried squid and freshly shucked oysters, to name a few.

Next door at the The Deck Bar, there are small plates and bar snacks on offer, including roasted mushroom arancini ($14), a charcuterie board ($23) and the wagyu burger with Monterey jack cheese and spiced tomato jam on a milk bun ($25). The wine list champions Australian varieties by the glass, while overseas options focus on Champagne and sparkling wines.

If you're looking to soak up the views without spending too much cash, head in from 5–7pm each day, when happy hour is offering 30 percent-off tap beers and sparkling wine.
