Bar Bruno
"We see 'neighbourhood' as less about geography and more about connection. Bar Bruno will always offer guests...the same, consistent experience of thoughtful food and genuine hospitality."
Overview
Bar Bruno, an all-day neighbourhood osteria, has landed on York Street in Sydney's CBD. Inspired by the casual atmosphere of Italian osterias, Bar Bruno offers an approachable, familiar space for diners to gather at any time of day or night, whether for morning coffees and pastries, leisurely lunches, or aperitivo hour.
The new opening marks the second CBD outpost from the Odd Culture Group to launch in 2026, following the opening of Razz Room, an underground daiquiri bar and discotheque. Bar Bruno will be led by Odd Culture Group's Chief Executive Officer, Rebecca Lines, who says, "We see 'neighbourhood' as less about geography and more about connection. Bar Bruno will always offer guests — no matter whether they are regulars or first-time diners — the same, consistent experience of thoughtful food and genuine hospitality."

A selection of small and large plates makes up the à la carte menu offered from 11.30am on weekdays and noon on Saturday, including cotoletta with black garlic aioli, mussels with fagioli giganti, njuda butter and charred citrus, Caesar salad, the Bar Bruno Burger, and Murray Cod with parmesan rind brodo.
"Bar Bruno's dishes reflect our simple and humble approach. We are not trying to replicate classic Italian restaurants; instead, we are offering familiar flavours with a refreshing point of view and a focus on produce and execution rather than elaborate dishes. Instead of leaning heavily on pasta, we've deliberately limited the Bar Bruno à la carte offering to create space to highlight other dishes — particularly seafood (frutti di mare), raw dishes (crudo) and meat (carne)," says Odd Culture Group Executive Chef Tony Gibson.

Pop in for snacks and drinks during 3 to 5pm for what Bar Manager Jordan Blackman calls a "celebration of apertivo culture." Blackman says to expect "...bitter things, spritzy things, too many olives; things designed to get both the conversation and appetite going. There will be amaro aplenty with a healthy mix of the classics, alla Averna and friends, alongside new and exciting bottlings from our mates at Red Mill Rum in White Bay."
The intentionally concise wine list focuses on approachability, with a strong Barolo presence and rare bottlings from producers Roagna, Giuseppe Rinaldi, and Cappellano. "The wine list will be very unapologetically Italian, of course — why drink Petit Chablis when you can enjoy Etna Bianco or Soave? But it won't all be heavy hitters, we'll look to highlight young, up-and-coming winemakers alongside a selection of our favourite Australian producers doing great things with Italian varieties," says Blackman.

"Bar Bruno is a true connection point within the CBD where people can come together to meet, celebrate, and mark occasions, while feeling just as comfortable dropping in solo for a coffee or quick bite. In a part of the city that can often feel transient, Bar Bruno aims to offer a sense of familiarity and ease," says Lines.
