Overview

Yok Yor Thai Food Factory is the perfect fit amongst the mayhem of Haymarket, Sydney's famed eating district. With the ambience and energy of a Thai market, this is the kind of place to settle in, shoulder to shoulder with fellow diners, and feast on some genuine (and genuinely spicy) traditional Thai meals. And it will have you coming back again and again.

The menu here is epically long, with over 100 dishes available. If you're swinging by for a quick lunch, be sure to check the menu beforehand to save time. We're here to help, though. To kick things off, we'd go with the satay chicken, a favourite snack from southern Thailand that's served in a thick peanut sauce. The pla meuk tod prik kleur is another hit, with salt-and-pepper squid lightly tossed in lemongrass, garlic, shallots, and chilli.

If you have time for a salad, try the yum talay, a spicy mixed seafood salad with onion, celery, mint, and coriander, tossed in a chilli-lime dressing. For wok-fried options, try the whole snapper fried with sweet fish sauce and a shredded green mango salad. Another classic is the gai pad med mamuang, a wok-fried crispy chicken dish with vegetables and cashew nuts, all drenched in a Chinese wine sauce. The curries range from light and sweet to hot and spicy, with the gang tai pla especially fiery — with smoked sheatfish, bamboo shoots, apple eggplants and lime leaves.
