Boat Harbour
Explore sea life along the rocky shoreline of this isolated beach.
Overview
Boat Harbour is not your typical beach. Far from offering a lazy day in the sun, this is one of the last beaches in Sydney where you can drive your 4WD.
Located on the northeastern side of the Kurnell peninsula, the 150-metre beach is accessible via 4WD-friendly sand dunes which, once traversed, spit you out onto Boat Harbour, with its calm and shallow waters. On weekends, this strip of sand fills up with families bringing their barbecues and gazebos down to set up for the day (driving onto the beach means no gear-laden walks from the car park).
The beach is unpatrolled but is known for its calm waters, making it a popular destination for stand-up paddleboarding, line fishing and snorkelling, too. And, if you don't feel like getting wet, check out the sea life in the rock pools that hug the shoreline instead.
