Overview

If you're looking for a place with history in this fair city of ours, this lavish abode has plenty. Dating back to the mid-1800s, Elizabeth Bay House was once known as the 'finest house in the colony' — a label earned due to its furniture, its staircase, its views over Sydney Harbour and, well, its all-round extravagance.

Its sprawling 54-acre garden may no longer exist but, all these years later, you can still tour the premises and see the house's opulence for yourself. If you're feeling particularly flush, it's available to hire for events as well.
