Overview

Tireless advocate of underground music, purveyor of the do-it-yourself music ethos, and the man behind the A Low Hum beast, Blink, has announced details of his latest project and a string of events to rule them all.

For 15 years, the Wellington-based music enthusiast has been taking photos and filming live music in New Zealand and abroad. The decade-and-a-half collection of work has now been boiled down to a visual essay comprising a film and 1000 photos of 300 bands, which will be released as a series of 10 photographic art books.

Each book in the 'Movement' series is said to be devoted to a particular style or theme, and will released weekly from March 16 to those who express their interest in signing up to a Book Club. With no plans to release the film online or in cinemas, limited capacity screenings will be held in Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Wellington and Palmerston North as part of the ‘A Movement’ tour.

The tour will see 25 separate events play out throughout March in the aforementioned centres. Events include a return to the home of Camp A Low Hum, with 20 acts in tow; influential Auckland trio Xanadu playing their first shows in more than 12 years; Liam Finn performing the work of Betcahdupa; and Sarah Mary Chadwick playing the material of Batrider.

Those who would like a heads up before tickets go on sale can also sign up to a get a three-hour notification.
