'At Thresholds' at the City Gallery
From a group of New Zealand artists comes this new exhibition exploring humanity's relationship to nature.
Overview
A new exhibition at City Gallery aims to explore the complicated relationship between humans and nature — and gives a fairly timely examination of our current ecological crisis.
From a series of artists around Aotearoa, comes At Thresholds, an exhibition of photography, video, painting, sculpture and installation exploring humanity's space within the multispecies. No, that's not a Marvel multiverse thing. The multispecies encompass the universe of lifeforms which we share our planet with — including fungi, plants and animals.
With both historical and commissioned works from New Zealand artists spanning multiple generations, this exhibition is sure to be a thought-provoking examination of how we're treating the planet, and leaving it for generations — and species — to come.
So no, it's not a light topic but with a series of exciting and engaging art forms, it's sure to be a must-see one.
Running at Wellington's City Gallery until December 4, put this one on your list for a lunchtime drop-in or lengthy weekend visit — as always, it's free to check out.
