One of the real highlights of Wellington on a Plate, Dine Wellington has something for everyone. Over 100 eateries across the Wellington region have put together menus designed to showcase the best local ingredients and tipples the capital has to offer. With so many options begging to tantalise your tastebuds, a bit of research won’t go astray – lucky for you, we’ve already done some of the hard work for you. Read on to see just a few of the exciting menus being whipped up across the city this August.

$25 and under:

Lunch at Grill Meats Beer ($25), two courses and a bevvie, including: a Parkvale mushroom and Zany Zeus haloumi double down, with roasted bell pepper jam; and the Whittaker’s malted milk chocolate sundae with salted caramel and peanut brownie crumbs.

Lunch or dinner at the Ramen Shop comes in at a tidy $25 for two courses plus a regional drink. The menu has highlights such as Eastbourne Village Meats free range pork belly buns with BBQ spice, Shoyu shiitake ramen with Newtown Saturday market veges, and Panhead stout pancakes with Whittaker’s white chocolate.

$45 and under:

Probably one of the only times you can go to Logan Brown and come away with change for $50, their two course lunch with a drink ($45) includes options such as Cook Strait hoki brandade squid rings, salad verde and black olive; and a Zany Zeus milk braised pork belly with celeriac, feta croquetta and ruby cabbage.

Portlander’s menu has both lunch (two courses, $35) and dinner (three courses $55) options. With various courses including grilled scallops with Zany Zeus smoked yoghurt and Greytown Gold saffron essence with parmesan chips, Prana Greens micro herbs and avocado oil; char-grilled wild venison fillet with Farm Fresh wild mushroom polenta and light truffle jus; and the Apple Sourz and RJ’s liquorice individual baked cheesecakes, it’s down right impossible to go wrong here.

A wee bit more:

Matterhorn’s four course dinner with a drink ($75) or wine matching with all courses ($100) may be on the slightly more expensive side of the Dine offerings, but it’s still great value. With courses including a Wharekauhau Texel lamb rump with smooth Jerusalem artichoke, confit dates, lentils and Lot Eight olive oil refined sauce; and a yoghurt panna cotta with Flight coffee ice cream, Matterhorn rooftop honeycomb and chocolate rocks; this is a menu designed to impress, and impress it no doubt will.

Local favourite, Ortega Fish Shack, have put together three courses with a regional beverage for a cheeky $69. Courses include Pan-fried prawn tails with garlic butter sauce, Wairarapa lemon and tagliatelle; and Fish Factory K?piti fish of the day in yellow curry with salad of beetroot, carrot, ginger, spiced cashews and tamarind; and a house made sangria. Yes.

So, go on, grab your peeps, head on out and let yourselves by wowed by the little culinary capital that could.
