Eb & Sparrow
The sweethearts of alt-country Americana play their last gig of all time.
Overview
Wellington's Eb & Sparrow have been honing their genre-traversing craft since 2010 and in the process have managed to release four EPs and two full-length albums.
Formed around the vocals and songwriting of front-person Ebony Lamb, the Tui-nominated band creates a soundscape that combines the best of Lucinda Williams, Catpower and Ry Cooder — it's country, indie, folk, sentimental and somewhat dark. The band is made up of Bryn Heveldt (lapsteel, electric guitar), Jason Johnson, (electric guitar, bass, backing vocals), Chris Winter (trumpet, melaphone, electric guitar, bass, backing vocals) and newly instated drummer Justin Barr.
The chapter has now come to an end as the sweethearts of alt-country Americana will play their last gig of all time this weekend. The night never to be repeated will take place at San Fran on Sunday, 14 October.
Adam McGrath of Lyttelton band The Eastern will kick things off at 7.30pm before the five-piece of the moment play their final set at 8.30pm. DJ Miss Juliet will fill the silence throughout the evening.
