Famously, there has been an under-representation and under-appreciation of women in the hospitality industry. But the NZ Women in Hospitality (NZWH) are determined to change that.
On 22 October members of NZWH are hosting Femmes & Food, a delectable, communal five-course meal event at Hillside Kitchen and Cellar. The aim of the evening and NZWH is to highlight the women championing the industry and have conversations around how to bring them into the spotlight.
Everyone is encouraged to participate — female, male, non-binary — everyone's suggestions and opinions are important. Your ticket, at $120 a pop, gets you a five-course meal, sharing plates/snacks and matched beverages. It's kind of a perfect night out.
It would be remiss to fail to mention that the evening is not only run by some bad-ass female foodies, but the food and drink is also sourced from mostly female suppliers. Aside from being an evening of divine food and drink, it is a key step in growing and encouraging the pool of female leaders in hospitality. So, fill your bellies and look to the future of food.
