Fizzy milk- a bizarre drink, but great album.

Overview

I don't know about you, but the words Fizzy Milk sort of make me uncomfortable. But there's a story behind Gareth Thomas' new sophomore album- inspired by the milky-Sodastream adventures of some children he knows. Taking this analogy and running with it, he likens his album to the unusual drink- all of the fizz of pop music, but a nourishing undertone that will leave you feeling satisfied and fulfilled with Thomas' penchant for storytelling and insightful lyrics.

Best known for his  early 2000s lyrical hits he wrote for Goodshirt, among them Sophie, Lucy and Fiji Baby, he also collaborated with artists from Bic Runga, The Grand Rapids, and Goldenhorse. Thomas is now embarking on his three-stop tour to launch Fizzy Milk.

The two years Thomas has spent crafting this album are reason to make the effort to go and see this piece of the New Zealand music puzzle at MOON space in Newtown. The intimate, underground venue is a perfect backdrop to his cohesive collection, and the performance will no doubt be utterly original in true Gareth Thomas style. He's even said to play a new version of Sophie, with support act The Map Room providing complementary tunes. Make sure you catch it- and let us know how it tastes!
