Overview

It's time for Wellingtonians to break out the lederhosen, folk it up, and prepare to indulge in some authentic Bavarian food. The illustrious Oktoberfest returns to Wellington for the fifth time this year, celebrating Bavarian culture with beer, bands, bratwurst and a bit of a kiwi twist.

Since its inception in 1810 in Munich, Oktoberfest has become one of the largest celebrated festivals around the world, attracting millions of visitors every year. This October 14 at TSB Arena, visitors can sample some of the best craft beers and Bavarian cuisine Wellington has on offer, including stalls from Fork & Brewer, Black Dog Brewery, Brezelmania and Fritz's Wieners.

Plus, what's a folk festival without a bit of music? Some of the country's most entertaining Bavarian bands will be competing for the title of 'Champion Bier Band'. To prepare for all of your Oktoberfest adventures, visit oktoberfest.co.nz.
