Overview

After playing a sold out show at Vector Arena last year, legendary singer-songwriter Rodriguez will return for two shows, prior to an Australian tour.

The Detroit folk-rock survivor experienced a renaissance 40 years after his first shot at fame. After his albums Cold Factand Coming from Reality went reasonably unnoticed in the US, he earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, ran for political office and left behind rumours of a gruesome on-stage suicide.

Years later, a bootlegged recording made its way into South Africa and saw him gain superstar status. Despite the success, his fame in South Africa remained completely unknown to Rodriguez until 1997. He also experienced a flush of attention in the US and Europe in 2012 after the documentary Searching for Sugarman was released.
