For the entire month of July, Nga Taonga is screening otherworldly films and sci-fi series at their Taranaki Street cinema. Amongst the program are the nostalgic and spooky TV shows, Children of the Dog Star and Under the Mountain. This is a great chance to relive those childhood memories hiding behind your blanket because of a scary latex monster. Or if you're looking for something a little meta, very Kiwi, and full of belly laughs, try This Giant Papier Mache Boulder is Actually Really Heavy. It's a bit of Monty Python and a little Red Dwarf bundled up in New Zealand comedy. However, if you're wanting something a little more serious, get sucked into Eternity. This 2013 local production explores the scary possibilities of a simulation universe through an intense murder mystery storyline.
