Terror-Fi Film Festival
Celebrating the best horror, thriller and sci-fi films from around the world.
Overview
The capital's goriest film festival returns this Halloween celebrating the best horror, thriller and sci-fi films from around the world. Prompting blood curdling screams from 31 October to 4 November at The Roxy, the Terror-Fi Film Festival includes eight New Zealand premieres, two Wellington premieres, and two retro classics.
Headline films include J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot's Nazi action horror Overlord and the remake of the 1970s horror classic Suspiria starring Dakota Johnson and Tilda Swinton. Stanley Kubrick's classic The Shining is the special opening night presentation, and will see The Roxy transformed into The Overlook Hotel, with themed food, a jazz band and a bubbling blood cocktail.
Also on the bill is zombie Christmas musical Anna and the Apocalypse, SXSW winner Prospect, outrageous black comedy thriller Assassination Nation, Korean action-thriller Believer, and a yet-to-be-announced screening that will have its second ever festival showing at Terror-Fi. See the full list of films here.
The festival will again promote New Zealand talent through its short film program, by playing locally made shorts before every feature film screening.
