Overview

Kate Sheppard, superstar of our $10 note and leader in the New Zealand women's suffrage movement, helped women gain the right to vote in New Zealand. With the General Election right around the corner there's no better time to celebrate our national treasure with a full-blown rock opera.

Esther Stephens plays Kate in That Bloody Woman as she takes on the patriarchy, public opinion and Prime Minister Richard 'King Dick' Seddon. The show returns to the stage after sell-out seasons in Auckland and Christchurch last year to showcase our ceiling-shattering history and to consider whether we have come as far as we would like.

Expect big skirts, live music, ladies on bicycles and a Prime Minister who raps.

The show was created by Luke Di Somma and Gregory Cooper and directed by Kip Chapman.
