Overview

Did you hear about the polar bear who liked both girl and boy bears?  Turns out he was bipolar.

*crickets chirp*

That joke was terrible, but if you're in the mood for a proper chortle, bear with us (sorry) because Wellington is about to become comedy central as the NZ International Comedy Festival barrels into town for its 22nd year.

More than 70 acts from around the globe fall will upon the capital's funny bones like a pack of starving wolves - only with less blood and screaming and more screaming with laughter! Promise - bringing standup, sketch, improv, physical and musical japes with them.

From some epic Kid's Comedy, to the naive charm of UK superstar Sara Pascoe and Kiwigian stalwart Rhys Darby, from an ode to the hidden world of fan fiction to the steak, eggs and chips of comedy - Rock'n'Bingo, this year's cavalcade of whimsy isn't afraid to take comic pot shots at anything, or anyone.

So limber up your laugh muscles and grab your tickets now for shows at The Opera House, Bats, The Green Man Pub and the Hannah Playhouse (Formerly Downstage).
