Overview

Not sure if we even need to tell you this, seeing as the city is festooned in window displays and collateral declaring that it's happening, but the WoW World of Wearable Arts is here for its 2017 season.

One of the flagship events of the city, WoW is a juggernaut for the Wellington arts scene. The 17-day long season brings together artists, theatre practitioners, dancers, textile artists, audio visual wizards and creative visionaries to pull off one of the world's biggest design competitions, that functions as a show in its own right.

Designers are challenged to take art off the walls and festoon the human form with it. Whatever approach they take, it's a pure expression and look into someone's creative mind. Criteria are broad and the only limitations given to entrants are purely logistical for ease of execution of the show. There's an open section though, so really there are no limits to what entrants will pull out of their bag.

You'll be confronted, amazed and forced to shift your perceptions of dance, theatre and art all in one hit. Get your tickets now (caution: weekend tickets are the most popular so you're going to want to get in there quick-smart).

Full dates and times can be found on the WoW website.
