Overview
That is, until you hear the ingredient list - a white chocolate pannacotta 'cheese slice', kiwifruit 'greens', raspberry jelly 'tomato', the chocolate parfait patty sandwiched between two vanilla bean macaron - this isn't any old cheeseburger meal.
Executive Chef Laurent Loudeac and Commis de Cuisine Thomas Pepper at the Hippopotamus Restaurant and Bar, ensconced in the third floor of the Museum Art Hotel on Cable Street have really liberated the parameters of what defines a burger. The dish looks to be a sign of things to come, when the Museum Art Hotel evolves into the QT Museum Wellington Hotel in October. Our beloved Hippopotamus will stay on, in its current iteration and styling, with the same amazing food from Loudeac and his troupe of gastronomic creatives.
Highly prized for its originality and true Wellington flavour, the much-loved hotel has been a favourite on the city's waterfront since 1994, with curated walls featuring artworks from some of New Zealand's finest creatives. These works will stay on as QT Hotel's take on the evolution, and so will its offbeat taste and love for art and design. QT are known for their quirkily innovative range of hotels in Australia, making them the perfect next step for continuing such a legacy in Wellington. The QT Hotel Museum Wellington unveiling will be coming up soon.
