Overview

At home on a sleepy corner in Northcote Point is the Stafford Road Wine Bar. Don’t fret city siders, it’s only a stones throw from the Harbour Bridge, plus the high ceilings and rustic brick walls of this stylishly revamped corner store will have you feeling right at home. Perfect date spot, with the chances of running into your ex being zero to none.

Sit outside with the city lights in the background and grab yourself a glass of something red from Stafford Road’s extensive list of local and regional drops. Alternatively, perch indoors next to the fire with a craft beer. The Parrot Dog Bitter Bitch IPA ($11.50) will get tongues wagging.

Luckily the staff and beers don't share many traits and staff are very warm and welcoming. Ask them about special daily offerings. Head chef Ed Verner's menu is seasonal, and ingredients vary depending on what is blooming in the on-site garden.

The boneless chicken wings with sour cream, crackle, and red cabbage ($13.50) make for a delicious start. From there you can really branch out, the menu is very unique, try anything from deer dumplings to confit blue nose. Everything is fresh and home made, even the sour cream. Be sure to order plenty as the servings are small and designed to be shared. Good company necessary, cutlery optional.
