Overview

You might have experienced the culinary magic of chef Elie Assaf at one of his Five Boroughs burger pop-ups. As well as whipping up 'Crack Fries' topped with cheese and gravy, the Williams Eatery head chef is known for showcasing the Lebanese recipes of his mother. Last year he released the Yola cookbook dedicated to the beloved food of his childhood.

In response to the horrific Beirut explosion this month, Assaf is hosting Bahebek Ya Lebnan (I love you, Lebanon), a fundraiser dedicated to his hometown and Lebanese cuisine. The menu is available for pre-order for lunch or dinner this Sunday, 23 August, and includes a selection of shawarma, falafel, tabbouleh, hummus and baklava.

Pre-orders close Friday midnight and pick up is from Williams Eatery in Wynyard Quarter. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the disaster response in Beirut, providing Elie's family and other locals with medical and economic support.
