Overview

Japan Day is the biggest one-day Japanese cultural event in New Zealand. Held between the Cloud and Shed 10, the free event will include traditional Japanese cultural displays such as martial arts demonstrations, Taiko drumming, origami and the art of bonsai, as well as contemporary trends like cosplay, J-pop and anime.

With food being an important component of the Japanese culture, the festival wouldn’t be complete without a focus on cuisine. Attendees will be given the opportunity to witness cooking demonstrations, as well as the highly physical art of rice cake pounding, and a tea ceremony. There will also be plenty of food sold at stalls.

Indulge your senses and submerge yourself in culture from the East Asian nation this Sunday.
