Minnie Mini Block Party
A multi-curated, three-venue community street party.
Overview
Generally speaking, the suburbs that make up a city each have their own unique identity worth celebrating. Auckland is no different. Nestled between Mt Eden and Kingsland is Eden Terrace, a wee nook known for its increasingly tidy villas, being really close to Dominion Road, street art and now the Minnie Mini Block Party happening on 5 May.
Running between 10am and 10pm this community event has something for everyone, from bike fixing workshops and artisan markets to live music and a vegan barbecue.
Three stages of music mean that there will be plenty of dancing in the street. The 23Stage ($15 cash on the door, $10 presales) will play host to electronica darling Totems as he plays a DJ set, MEER and Career Girls, to name but a few. Just down the road, Ron Gallipoli, perhaps best known for his rendition of Lorde's Green Light at the 2017 Silver Scroll Awards, is headlining the 19Stage along with the ever ethereal Him (suggested koha $10). The free Cupid stage is yet to announce its lineup, but judging by the others, it promises to be a cracker.
Given that Eden Terrace is on the Northwestern Cycleway, it makes complete sense that LOOP Group will be on hand selling bikes (or showing you how to fix yours) and whipping up some vegan treats. Lot23 will also be open with coffee, food and licensed liquor sales.
