New Zealand Fashion Week

Overview

It's that time of year again, when the stars shine bright, the night air warms, and New Zealand's fashion pack come out to play. It's time for NZ Fashion Week people.

The week has already begun, with shows to trade and the luckily invited guests piling into the Viaduct Events Centre. The standard of dress will be high, and the blogging community will be in full force, combining their time of critiquing the best of antipodean fashion and partying with some of Auckland's high rollers.

Then there is NZ Fashion Weekend, this is the part where the public can come and jump in on the fun. Start your weekend off with a bang and rub shoulders with NZ's finest at the Red Bull Studios opening party on Friday, September 6 from 8.00pm till 11pm. You'll be dancing the night away to a mix of bands and DJ’s. There are limited tickets available to the public and a high standard of dress is required, so no ugg-boots please. Tickets cost $60.

So what about the Fashion part? Well joining the list of special weekend designers is Aussie Charlie Brown, Trelise Cooper, Huffer, Allanah Hill, Gorman, Alma J, Crane Brothers, John Zimmermann, Sera Lilly, Robyn Cliffe, Vinka Design and Working Style. That is a seriously pimping list of fashionistas.

Back inside the NZFW venue, you'll find the the Activation Lounge. It will be packed from floor to ceiling with cool stuff, and will also feature ‘Icing on the Cake’ - a unique project from NZ Weddings Magazine that teams up some of NZ’s top fashion designers with expert wedding cake makers to create some of the most fashion forward cakes you’ve ever seen. Guests can vote for their favourite cake and also enjoy sweet treats and enter the draw to win one of these amazing creations.

Another competition, run by the official printers of Fashion Weekend – Print Monkey, sees the winner enjoying a personalised shopping experience with fashion designer Adrian Hailwood and jewellery designer Nick Von K.

Fashion Weekend wouldn’t be complete without the Designer Garage Sale Back in full swing with New Zealand’s favourite designer fashion labels, menswear, footwear and accessory labels, this really is fashion lovers heaven! A long list of designers will be on sale for a fraction of the retail price. Shoppers are advised to come armed with their credit cards and a shop-till-you-drop attitude. Look out for new stock arriving each day.

What a weekend it's going to be - I almost feel like writing an exclamation mark.
