Short and Sweet Theatre is like the tapas of entertainment, offering a tasty selection of bite-sized performances which may satisfy your appetite or make you hungry for more.

Short and Sweet's particular format makes it ideal for those who like variety, or have a limited attention span. Whether it's comedy, tragedy, physical theatre, superheroes or super dreary, each performance lasts no more than 10 minutes.

Every year Short+Sweet Theatre presents us with hundreds of the best ten minute plays from here, there and well, everywhere. Talented local actors and directors take up the challenge of telling these tales within the strict confines of the ten-minute time slot. It's often said that limitations generate greater creativity and this is certain to be the case here.

The best scripts and proposals from playwrights and independent companies are selected for the festival short-list. The selection is then divided into the main bill (for the more experienced) and the wild cards (for the newer participants). Along with the festival judges, audience members vote for their favourite acts which go through to the Short and Sweet Gala, where the best of the best are chosen and awards given.
