Overview
It's been nine years since Auckland's waterfront was transformed from a petrochemical storage facility into the multi-purpose area we now know as Wynyard Quarter. To mark the milestone, the folks behind the harbour-side landing are throwing a day-long celebration comprising all the things that make it a go-to destination for weekend warriors.
Celebrations kick off from 7.30am on Saturday, 8 August with a program of family-friendly events. There will be classic yachts on display in the marina, and harbour sailings courtesy of the Maritime Museum's SS Puke. Elsewhere, there's live music, art installations, gardening workshops and a firefighter training demonstration where emergency workers will drop down off the silos.
