Organic Mechanic

We arrived at Parnell's beloved La Cigale markets early Saturday morning to find The Organic Mechanic boys fresh and chirpy, eagerly churning out tasters of their signature smoothie blends and offering free hugs to anyone who passed by.

For all rock-dwellers out there, The Organic Mechanic is a small market-based operation founded by three handsome young men dedicated to offering delicious, nutritious smoothies with a side-helping of hippie love and free hugs.

Their menu is simple with just a few smoothie options on offer. We tried the Athena, a zesty blend of organic greens, pear, citrus, hemp oil and mint that was delightfully refreshing, and King Kong, packed with blueberries, banana, linseed, vanilla and pea protein, which is just about a meal unto itself.

Props to the boys for offering their smoothies in returnable glass jars – the idea is that you grab your drop on the way in to the market and slowly sip as you wander the stalls, returning the empty jar on your way out. It's sustainable and feels hella' classy – we are in Parnell, after all.

Currently you can only catch The Organic Mechanic at Parnell's La Cigale Markets every Saturday and Sunday, but stay tuned – we're predicting big things for these guys.
